WASHINGTON – Sen. Amy Klobuchar is again co-sponsoring bipartisan legislation that would make E-15 fuel available year-round.
The Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act of 2023 would allow sales of ethanol blends higher than ten percent in the summer months.
“The reason we don’t have year-round E-15 right now is because the D.C. court of appeals threw out a rule making that had been done by the previous administration,” Klobuchar said.
Sales of the 15 percent ethanol blend are usually prohibited between June and mid-September, but the EPA issued an emergency waiver last summer due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Minnesota Congresswoman Angie Craig is sponsoring a companion bill in the U.S. House.
