ST. PAUL, Minn. (KFGO) – Governor Tim Walz announced today that the Frontline Worker Pay program will start sending payments of $487.45 to over a million Minnesota workers this week.
The payments were designed to recognize the sacrifices made by workers on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic.
$500 million was dedicated by the legislature to the program for equal payments to all eligible applicants. 1.2 million online applications for the funds were received in June and July.
In the end, 1,025,655 Minnesotans met the program’s eligibility requirements.
Those who chose to receive payment via direct deposit will see funds deposited within seven to 10 business days; those who chose to receive payment via debit card will be mailed their funds within three to four weeks.
