BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – An internal poll conducted for the North Dakota Democratic Party shows an apparent tight race for North Dakota’s U.S. House seat.
The poll, provided to KFGO News by a person affiliated with the Democratic Party, indicates that Independent candidate Cara Mund only trails Republican Incumbent Kelly Armstrong by 4 percentage points.
Abortion rights is the key issue in the race, according to the poll, conducted by DFM research in St. Paul. The poll was done over two days earlier this month. 400 likely voters were surveyed.
Mund is a strong supporter of abortion rights with the supreme court’s decision overturning Roe vs. Wade prompting her to get into the race. Armstrong is against abortion.
The Democratic congressional candidate, Mark Haugen, recently dropped out of the race.
Mund and Armstrong are scheduled to debate on KFGO on Oct. 11. The debate will originate from the NDSU campus.
