SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – For the first time since 2018, a North Dakota female athlete earns Summit League TicketSmarter Athlete of the Month. Junior guard Kacie Borowicz claimed the honor, league officials announced Thursday.
Borowicz is the third female Fighting Hawk to earn the honor. She was preceded by soccer player Olivia Swenson (Sept. 2018) and basketball player Lexi Klabo (Dec. 2018).
Borowicz vaulted the Fighting Hawks to the top half of the league standings by averaging 20.2 ppg during a 6-3 month for UND that included a six-game winning streak.
The junior was twice named the TicketSmarter Player of the Week and equaled her career-high with 33 points in a win over Western Illinois (Jan. 13). The career-best output against the Leathernecks was one of five 20-plus point scoring games in January.
The Roseau, Minn., native also averaged 5.6 rpg and 3.8 apg while making 49-of-51 free throw attempts (96.1 percent). She ranks second nationally in free throw percentage. She dished out a career-high seven assists to go with 27 points in a home win over Kansas City (Jan. 22).
