A feature documentary about Paul Shaffer, David Letterman’s former bandleader, is moving forward. The film titled Say Hello To Our Good Friend Paul Shaffer will chronicle the iconic musician’s career from his 1972 start as musical director for Toronto’s Godspell production alongside Martin Short, Eugene Levy and Gilda Radner. Shaffer joined Letterman in 1982 for NBC’s Late Night, leading the World’s Most Dangerous Band before moving to CBS in 1993. The documentary will cover his work with the original Saturday Night Live band and collaborations with James Brown, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. “I’ve been the luckiest guy in showbiz,” Shaffer stated. “This film isn’t just about me. It’s about the soundtrack of our lives.” (Story URL)
