David F. Sandberg will direct a fresh Amityville Horror film for Amazon MGM Studios. Ian Goldberg and Richard Naing penned the screenplay reimagining the 1979 original that starred Josh Brolin, Margot Kidder and Rod Steiger. The writers also created The Conjuring: Last Rites, which will cross $200 million worldwide. The franchise began with Jay Anson’s 1977 novel and includes a 2005 remake featuring Ryan Reynolds and Chloe Grace Moretz’s debut. The 1979 film earned $86.4 million globally while the 2005 version made $65.2 million. Sandberg directed Shazam!, Annabelle: Creation and Lights Out. (Story URL)
