A 12-year-old Texas boy suffered severe burns after attempting to recreate an experiment seen on TikTok. On August 16th, Caden Ballard was at home with his older brother when he tried to light a bottle filled with rubbing alcohol on fire, inspired by a social media video. The situation quickly turned dangerous as the nearly invisible flames spread to Caden’s shirt. His brother quickly removed the burning shirt and had Caden stop, drop and roll to extinguish the fire. Caden sustained second-to-third-degree burns across 11% of his body. He was hospitalized and later transferred to a pediatric burn center, where doctors say he may need plastic surgery as he continues recovering. The boy’s mother is urging parents to prevent their children from copying dangerous online content. (People)
