Authorities have charged a North Carolina elections official with drugging his granddaughters’ ice cream. Investigators allege that James Yokeley Jr., 66, surreptitiously added cocaine and MDMA to the Dairy Queen treats consumed by the two young girls. Yokeley reportedly flagged down a police officer, claiming pills had been discovered in the desserts. While the children did not ingest the substances, tests confirmed the presence of illegal drugs. Surveillance footage purportedly shows Yokeley himself tampering with the ice cream. The Surry County Board of Elections chair now faces felony counts of child abuse, drug possession, and contaminating food or drink. Yokeley was released on $100,000 bond but is barred from contacting the victims. (Newser)
