A Christian group has launched a fundraising campaign to purchase and destroy the world’s largest Labubu doll, which they have labeled “the alpha demon.” The group’s social media post features a flyer advertising a website called “Labubu is Satan,” which compares the dolls to the Mesopotamian demon Pazuzu, “the king of the demons of the wind.” The site urges supporters to “Burn the doll, cast out the spirit.” The group aims to raise $150,000 to buy and destroy the four-foot-tall mint-green Labubu doll that sold for that amount at a Beijing auction earlier this year. It’s unclear how much they have raised so far or if they will actually follow through on the plan. The Labubu dolls have seen a surge in popularity, leading to theft and resale for profit. (Complex)
