Tettegoiche State Park (Explore Minnesota)
SILVER BAY, Minn. (KFGO) – A man is dead after he jumped from Minnesota’s highest waterfall and drowned.
It happened late Monday morning at at Tettegouche State Park along the north shore of Lake Superior.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office says the 54-year-old man jumped from the Baptism River’s High Falls and didn’t resurface. his body was found at the base of the falls by the DNR, which used a remotely operated vehicle underwater as part of their search.
At 63-feet, the High Falls of the Baptism river is the tallest waterfall fully within Minnesota’s state border.
Only Pigeon Falls, which creates Minnesota’s border with Canada near Grand Portage, is taller.
