A survey of 2,000 Americans, including 30% parents, found that the average respondent only gets 9.5 hours per month to themselves. The main barriers to alone time were family obligations (50%), work commitments (32%), and financial constraints (24%). Over half of respondents expressed a need for more alone time, with some resorting to lying to get it. The survey, conducted by Talker Research, revealed that parents value a lazy morning alone at $325 and would pay $339.8 for an extra hour of sleep.
