Sheriff Calls Backup After Wrong Burger King Order
In Cobb County, Georgia, Sheriff Craig Owens is facing scrutiny after a body cam video surfaced showing him calling for backup over a wrong Burger King order. In May 2023, Owens allegedly called three deputies to help him track down the restaurant owner to file a formal complaint after his order—“Whopper, no mayo, cut in half”—was incorrect. When deputies arrived, they found the restaurant doors locked, leading some to view the situation as an unnecessary use of resources and intimidation.
The video, shared online by Owens’ election opponent, has sparked debate. Owens has since apologized, promising to do better. A voter humorously questioned if the police would respond similarly if a restaurant forgot ketchup on her burger.
