Travel Tip: Don’t Hide Meth In A Shotgun Shell At The Airport
You’d think hiding drugs in an altered shotgun shell wouldn’t get past airport security—but apparently, one Pennsylvania man didn’t get the memo. The unidentified man was arrested Monday at Philadelphia International Airport after TSA officers discovered the suspicious shell, which he was attempting to hide under his clothes.
When officers inspected the item, they found that it had been tampered with and contained a white powdery substance. Philadelphia police later confirmed it was methamphetamine.
“It is disappointing to see individuals attempt to hide items on their person or among their carry-on items in an attempt to conceal them,” said TSA Federal Security Director Gerardo Spero. While TSA isn’t actively searching for drugs, they notify law enforcement when illegal substances are found.
So for anyone thinking of smuggling drugs: Airport security scanners will pick up on ammunition—so hiding meth inside a shotgun shell is definitely a bad idea.
