Minnesota Wedding Photographer Charged with Secretly Filming Bride in Bridal Suite
In Minnesota, a wedding photographer is facing serious legal trouble after being accused of secretly recording a bride in her bridal suite on her wedding day. According to a criminal complaint, Mitchell Ringness, 30, allegedly hid a camera and captured footage of the bride undressing, without her consent, before her October 2020 ceremony.
The shocking discovery was made after Ringness’s wife handed over a thumb drive to police, which contained the video along with other unspecified explicit material. Investigators were able to identify both the bride and the venue, The Barn of Chapeau Shores in Albert Lea, located about 90 miles south of Minneapolis.
The 27-year-old bride, shown the footage by police, confirmed she was the victim and recognized Ringness as the photographer hired for her wedding. According to her, Ringness had been contracted only for still photography, not videography or intimate photography. She also provided photos from the event showing Ringness’s camera bag with an object protruding from it, possibly the hidden camera.
Ringness, who owns MR. Photography based in Duluth, advertises his services as providing ‘timeless yet captivating photos and videos’ that capture couples’ love stories. Authorities noted that a post about the victim’s wedding had been found on Ringness’s now-deleted Facebook page. Now, he faces a charge of interfering with privacy, a gross misdemeanor that carries a maximum sentence of 364 days in jail and a $3,000 fine. His first court appearance is set for September 5.
