Nursing Aide Tried To Smuggle Drugs To Inmates In Bowl Of Frozen Lasagna
A nurse aide at the Indiana State Prison faces serious charges after allegedly attempting to smuggle drugs into the facility via a bowl of frozen lasagna. Regina Davis, 46, responsible for distributing medicine to inmates, was caught when guards noticed her lasagna looked suspicious on the X-ray machine.
Upon inspection, guards found cocaine and marijuana wrapped in electrical tape inside the lasagna. Initially, Davis claimed she was unaware of the drugs, saying a friend gave her the lasagna. However, investigators found photos of the drug packages on her phone, taken the previous day.
Davis then changed her story, claiming she was coerced by threats to her and her brother’s safety. She admitted to partially wrapping the drugs, intended for an inmate contact. Despite her explanations, Davis was arrested on two felony narcotics trafficking charges. She has pleaded not guilty and is due in court on August 2.
Davis, a licensed nurse aide for over 20 years, now faces an uncertain future as her legal troubles unfold.
