WALCOTT, N.D. (KFGO)—The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a crash yesterday evening around 7:30, four miles north of Walcott and one mile south of Hwy. 46. A 15-year-old boy from Walcott was driving northbound on 167th Ave SE, four miles north of Walcott.
The driver encountered a deer crossing the road and swerved to miss the deer. The car entered the west ditch, drove into a field, became stuck in the field upright, and caught fire in the corn stubble. The driver was able to extricate himself from the vehicle and get to safety.
Kindred Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. There were no injuries in this crash, and only the vehicle caught fire. The car was a total loss. The name of the juvenile driver will not be released.
