Don’t Believe Everything You “Sea”: Woman Duped by Fake Seaside Hotel Room
An Argentinian woman, Clarisa Murgia, thought she had booked the perfect seaside getaway in Italy, only to discover she’d been hilariously scammed. Murgia shared her ordeal on TikTok, where her video has racked up over 3.1 million views.
After paying extra for a “seaside” room at a bed and breakfast, based on the picturesque photos in the online advertisement, Murgia arrived at the resort to find a far less idyllic scene. Instead of a serene ocean view, she was met with a picture of the sea pasted on a grubby wall of a building opposite her room.
In her viral POV video titled “Expectation versus Reality,” Murgia and her friends appear to be enjoying the marine vista from their deck, but a closer look reveals the disappointing truth. “No one has ever deceived me like this before, hahaha,” she commented in the clip.
TikTok users found the situation amusing, with one commenter saying, “I am sorry, but this is hilarious.” Another confessed, “I believed it for a moment,” while a third noted that the ad wasn’t technically lying, as she did get an “ocean view”—just not the one she expected.
Murgia’s vacation catfishing serves as a funny reminder to double-check those too-good-to-be-true travel deals.
