MOORHEAD, Minn. – Moorhead Police, the DEA, and Moorhead Hornbacher’s locations are partnering for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Saturday.
The initiative started as a way for people to dispose of their expired or unwanted prescription drugs safely. The DEA started the program after the Environmental Protection Agency and Food and Drug Administration started advising the public that flushing the prescription drugs or putting them in the trash was a safety and health hazard.
“This initiative addresses a vital public safety and public health issue. Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse,” Moorhead Police said
Hornbacher’s at 950 40th Avenue S. will be collecting the prescription drugs between 10 and 11:45 a.m. The location at 101 11 Street S. will collect from noon to 2 p.m.
