BISMARCK, N.D. – A physical education teacher and athletics coach at a Bismarck middle school has been named as North Dakota’s 2024 Teacher of the Year.
Sheila Peterson of Wachter Middle School was the choice over three other finalists: Devils Lake Middle School English teacher Megan Wasness, Rugby Elementary School teacher and choir director Andee Mattson, and Minot sixth-grade math teacher Trisha Schaefer.
Peterson will be considered for the honor of national Teacher of the Year, which will be announced in the spring of 2024.
