EDGELEY, N.D. (KFGO) – A 22-year-old Omaha man was injured after the pick-up he was driving was t-boned by a semi-truck towing a trailer loaded with cattle two miles south of Edgeley Sunday night, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
State Patrol Capt. Bryan Niewind said both the pick-up and the semi were southbound on Highway 281 just after 6:00 p.m. when the pick-up slowed to take a left turn at the junction with 75th St. SE. The semi, which was traveling behind the pick-up, pulled into the northbound lane to pass the the pick-up and hit the drivers side of the pick-up as it turned.
The driver of the semi has been identified as 56-year-old Shawn Brink of Mandan. He was uninjured in the crash. The pick-up driver, 22-year-old Alexander Aquino of Omaha, Nebraska, was transported from the scene by Edgeley Ambulance to the Oakes hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The LaMoure County Sheriff’s Office and Edgeley Fire Department assisted in responding to the crash. The Highway Patrol is still investigating, with possible charges to be filed pending the outcome of that investigation.
