(KFGO/KNFL) Wahpeton completed an outstanding Legion Baseball season in convincing fashion on Tuesday in Kindred. Post 20 blanked Kindred 10-0 in the title game of the North Dakota Class A State Legion Baseball Tournament.
Caden Hockert shut down the Post 117 offense, pitching six shutout innings. He allowed only hit, a single from Jorgen Swenson in the second inning with two walks and five strikeouts.
Tournament MVP Caden Kappes went 2-4 with 2 RBI. For the tournament, Kappes went 8-15 with three doubles and five stolen bases. Kappes and Jack Rittenour each produced an RBI single, along with a Tori Uhlich sacrifice fly in the second inning for an early 3-0 lead. Jackson Fliflet added an RBI double in the fourth inning versus Kindred starter Jack McDonald.
Wahpeton finishes the season 36-4, winning its second state title in the last three seasons.
