ELY, Minn. – A man who pleaded guilty to intentionally running over three deer near Ely in March won’t do any prison time.
According to St. Louis County prosecutors, 20-year-old Casey Meadows was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay $1,500 dollars in restitution.
Court records show that a pickup driven by Meadows sped up to strike the three deer as they ran across the road and never stopped. A former Ely police chief found the deer bloodied and wounded on the road and put them down.
Meadows later admitted to running over the deer and said he and his friends thought it was funny.
