DOWNER, Minn. (KFGO) – MNDOT is working through the restitution process in connection with damage done to a bridge in Clay County early last month.
The bridge, on County Road 10 over I-94, was hit by the high load of a semi. Damage is estimated at $100,000.
MNDOT said a couple of steel beams were struck which will require heat-straightening and other repairs.
State Patrol Capt. Brian Cheney said the damage was done by a trucking company hauling an excavator. The arm of the excavator struck the bottom of the bridge. County 10 had lane reductions while damage assessment was underway.
Beginning Monday, westbound I-94 at Exit 15 (Downer) will have temporary closures from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured onto the exit and entrance ramps. The work is expected to take four nights.
