MINNEAPOLIS – People in Minnesota and around the world are remembering George Floyd Thursday, three years after he died at the hands of Minneapolis police.
Floyd’s killing on Memorial Day 2020 set off protests in cities across the U-S and the globe. Derek Chauvin and three other ex-officers are serving prison time for their roles in Floyd’s death.
George’s brother, Philonese Floyd, after guilty verdicts last year in federal court said, “No matter how many times that I pray at night, and I think about my brother 24/7, it’s still going to be hard even though we just had a federal conviction, and we already had the state conviction.”
A candlelight vigil to remember and honor George is planned Thursday night at George Floyd Square in south Minneapolis.
