NAPOLEON, N.D. (KFGO) – A judge in south-central North Dakota has dismissed a criminal charge against a priest who was accused of sexual exploitation by a therapist.
Fr. Neil Pfeifer, 48, was charged last February in Logan County for having sexual contact with a woman at the Catholic church in Napoleon.
Judge James D. Hovey ruled that the prosecution did not meet its burden of probable cause for the case to move ahead.
Pfeifer still faces two similar charges in Stutsman county.
At the time of his arrest, he was serving at St. James Basilica in Jamestown. He was placed on administrative leave by the Diocese of Fargo pending the outcome of the investigations.
