ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – State Senator Torrey Westrom was injured in a snowmobile crash on Lake Ida near Alexandria Sunday afternoon.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at about 3 p.m.
Deputies and first responders found Westrom and a 13-year-old boy who had been driving on the north end of the lake. The snowmobile hit a packed snowdrift causing Westrom, a Republican, to be thrown from the snowmobile. His office said it was an ice chunk left from the removal of a fish house.
Westrom, who is blind, reported upper body pain and was taken to the hospital in Alexandria. Westrom is 49.
The teenager was not injured.
