OAK PARK HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Corrections said two inmates assaulted a corrections sergeant and two officers at the Oak Park Heights prison Tuesday night.
The prison workers were taken to the hospital and have since been released.
According to officials, three correctional officers were also assaulted at the Stillwater prison while trying to break up a fight among several inmates on Monday. The staff were treated for minor injuries at Lakeview Hospital and released.
“Those responsible for these senseless and cowardly acts of violence will be fully held to account for their actions,” DOC Commissioner Paul Schnell said in a statement.
