FARGO (KFGO) – The bitter sub-zero cold is cranking up the heat and it’s costing you as natural gas demand increases. Xcel Energy North Dakota Principal Manager Tony Grindberg has some advice that can make a difference in your bill.
He said just a few money savers include lowering a thermostat a few degrees, using a programmable thermostat that can be automatically set while away or sleeping, or keeping drapes and blinds open during the day while in sunlight that can retain heat.
Grindberg said despite the extreme cold and increased demand, there have not been any natural gas supply problems as the systems here are built for these kinds of situations, like the problems experienced in Texas several years ago.
