GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics) – North Dakota will visit North Dakota State on Saturday. Kickoff between the Fighting Hawks and Bison is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. inside the Fargodome. The game will be carried by AM 790 FM 94.1|104.7 KFGO and the Home of Economy Radio Network with the pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m.
The Fighting Hawks enter the contest with a 7-3 record and a 5-2 mark in MVFC play. Last week, North Dakota defeated South Dakota, 28-19, inside the Alerus Center. In the game, Malachi McNeal came up with a blocked punt right before intermission that gave UND momentum and led to a 14-13 lead on the scoreboard at the break. The Coyotes would not lead in the game after that point.
The Bison return to the Fargodome this weekend with an 8-2 overall record and 6-1 standing in the MVFC. Last weekend North Dakota State won 21-18 at Southern Illinois. James Kaczor tied a career-high 14 tackles and recovered an onside kick with 37 seconds left in the game to help the Bison secure the victory. Cam Miller and TaMerik Williams rushed for touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put NDSU up 21-10 with under five minutes left in the game.
This will be the 115th meeting between UND and NDSU, with North Dakota holding a 62-49-3 lead in the series. In games played in Fargo, North Dakota holds a 28-26-1 edge in the series. UND is 0-4 in the last four games played between the two squads and the last win in the series for NoDak was a 28-21 overtime victory in Grand Forks on Oct. 18, 2003.
