MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota’s U.S. senators want to name a federal building in downtown Minneapolis after the late Sen. Paul Wellstone.
Tuesday marks the 20th anniversary of the plane crash near Eveleth that killed Wellstone, his wife Sheila, daughter Marcia, three staffers, and two pilots.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar said the government should name the “Old” Federal Building on 3rd Avenue for Wellstone to acknowledge his service.
Legislation introduced by Klobuchar and Sen. Tina Smith would designate it as the Paul D. Wellstone Federal Building.
