MINNEAPOLIS – A man from Sauk Rapids is going to federal prison after pleading guilty to manufacturing firearms without a license.
Prosecutors said Jay James Olson, 21, admitted to making guns for profit between the fall of 2021 and April of this year despite never being federally licensed.
Court records show Olson sold 16 “ghost guns,” a silencer, an auto sear, and high-capacity magazines to a confidential informant for $20,000 on Apr. 26 in Waite Park. A search of Olson’s home led to manufacturing tools, firearms assembly kits, and a Glock assembly diagram.
His sentencing hearing hasn’t been scheduled.
