MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – A number of cities in Minnesota have put moratoriums on cannabis edibles since the food and drinks containing THC from hemp became legal in the state on July 1. Others have banned their sale. In Moorhead, the city’s director of Goverment Affairs says city officials are researching the recently enacted law and plan to bring a recommendation to the City Council in the coming months.
Lisa Bode says the City is also working with the League of Minnesota Cities on guidance. She said that while some communities are approving moratoriums, City staff is not recommending that step at this time.
The new Minnesota law allows hemp-derived THC edibles to be sold to adults 21 and older and it does not restrict who can sell the edibles or where they can be sold, but it does leave regulation and enforcement up to local entities.
