FARGO (KFGO) – A district judge has set bail at $1 million cash for a Fargo man accused of running into the back of a motorcycle on I-29 on Tuesday afternoon, firing a gun from his apartment balcony and causing another collision at the end of a police pursuit.
Maicheal Yousa, 28, was eventually shot by a state trooper.
Assistant Cass County State’s Attorney Ryan Younggren said it’s believed Yousa hit the motorcycle at high speed intentionally.
“Count 1 is our attempt murder count – the A felony matter – and we have to prove intententional conduct for attempt murder,” Younggren said. “After review of the dashcam video, and also the witness statements and the information that was gathered by law enforcement, the conduct for us looked very intentional and we felt we could support that charge.”
The dash-cam video came from a witness to the crash.
Younggren won’t comment on a potential motive saying the investigation is ongoing.
The motorcycle driver, Eric O’Meara of Horace, was hospitalized in critical condition but is improving.
