BISMARCK, N.D. – Several Republican Legislative incumbents were defeated in Tuesday’s North Dakota primary election.
The chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, Underwood Representative Jeff Delzer, was defeated in his new District 33. He came in third, receiving 22% of the vote. Newcomer Anna Novak, a candidate backed by Gov. Burgum, came in first at 25% while incumbent Bill Tveit was second with 24%
In District 25, Senator Jason Heitkamp failed in his bid for a House seat in his new District 25.
In the new Subdistrict District 9B, newcomer Donna Henderson defeated incumbent Chuck Damschen.
The House race in Minot’s District 3 will go to an automatic recount. In that race, incumbent Jeff Hoverson leads former GOP Representative Roscoe Streyle by one vote. Lori VanWinkle was the top vote-getter in that district.
