GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KFGO) – The Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Department is looking to lease rather than own squad cars.
Sheriff Andy Schneider told county commission members, the program has received positive reviews from various agencies he has been in contact with. He said there would be substantial savings to the county, estimated at nearly $1-million over 10 years. Schneider says the sheriff’s office has to replace aging vehicles, some with over 100-thousand miles.
Schneider plans to bring a formal lease proposal with Enterprise Rent-a-Car to the county commission later this month.
