FARGO (KFGO) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of the motorcyclist and the driver involved in a crash Friday night on 45th Street South near 44th Avenue in Fargo.
The motorcycle driven by 21-year-old Elijah Fields, of Fargo, was rear-ended by a car driven by 18-year-old Mason Bunnis of Moorhead. Fields was then dragged under the car.
Witnesses stopped to help and lifted the car off Fields before the vehicle started on fire. Fields was wearing a helmet and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Bunnis and three passengers in his car were wearing seatbelts and were not hurt.
The State Patrol says while the circumstances surrounding the car are under investigation, the use of the helmet played a big role in preventing more significant injuries to Fields.
