THOMPSON, N.D. (KFGO) – The State Patrol said blizzard conditions Sunday afternoon led to a semi-truck hauling hogs to roll its trailer on I-29 south of Thompson, North Dakota.
Whiteout conditions caused the driver to end up in the median and as he attempted to drive back onto the highway, the load shifted and caused the rollover. The trailer remained attached to the semi, which was on its wheels in the median.
The crash happened about 2 p.m. There were no injuries. The driver was en route from Brandon, Manitoba to Wisconsin when the crash happened.
The North Dakota Stockman’s Association assisted the State Patrol and North Dakota DOT.
Sgt Matt Johnson of the North Dakota Highway Patrol said he was uncertain of the number of injured hogs but that many were salvageable and alive following the accident. The crash was cleared up around 11:30 pm Sunday night.
