GLYNDON, Minn. (KFGO) – With the release of the new state legislative maps on Tuesday, John Hest of Glyndon says he will run as a DFL nominee for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 4B.
“As a farm-raised educator and union leader, I’m running to ensure great schools for our students, the protection of family farming as a way of life, and a chance for entrepreneurs and existing small businesses in our communities to continue to thrive,” Hest said. “I look forward to getting to know the new members of our district from Becker County, Oakport Township, and north Moorhead.”
Hest works as an Academic Advisor at Minnesota State Community and Technical College. Hest also teaches online history and government courses for Sisseton Wahpeton Tribal College in South Dakota. He grew up as the fifth generation on his family’s farm in rural Norman County.
Hawley Mayor Jim Joy has also announced a run for House District 4B, which is currently held by retiring DFL Rep. Paul Marquart of Dilworth. Joy will seek the Republican nomination.
