I mean, this makes sense – but I feel like this research is only proving what most people can figure out.
According to a new study out of Japan, CHEWING YOUR FOOD MORE can prevent you from becoming overweight. Basically, using your muscles to chew uses more energy, burning more calories and making it easier for your body to metabolize.
This study reveals that oral stimuli and the amount of time spent chewing can increase the calories burned while eating – the more you practice this, the more effective your metabolism can become.
SO – if your New Year’s Resolution is to lose more weight, try chewing your food a bit more before swallowing, and pop a piece of sugar-free gum in your mouth every once in a while. Can’t hurt!
XOXO, Alyssa
