We’ve all been there – all of a sudden, it’s two weeks before Christmas and you missed someone on your list. Stores are picked over, online shopping isn’t reliable because it may not get shipped on time, and it seems like your only option is something homemade or impersonal, like a gift card. So here are some ideas that are still great gifts, but work PERFECTLY if you’re a last-minute Christmas shopper (like me)!
- DIGITAL DOWNLOADS! They’re HUGE – you can get a digital code for literally anything now days. Your nephew loves video games? You can send him a download code for the new Switch game right to his email. You can also buy and send phone applications, eBooks, TV and movie downloads, etc. An idea I liked too was subscriptions to things, which can range from Spotify to a language learning service. The possibilities are endless!
- EXPERIENCES. I’m a huge advocate for non-material gifts that mean you can spend quality time with your friends and family. In fact, I got my boyfriend tickets to a concert for one of his favorite artists – and I guarantee that will be worth more than a sweater or a new wallet (and I get to go too 😜). You can grab concert tickets like I did, or plan a vacation, sports game tickets – or even plan close to home things you can do any day of the week, like scheduling massage appointments for your loved one. And you can tailor it to anyone’s interests – my friend got a yoga membership one year and she absolutely loved it.
- INVESTMENTS: When I was a kid, my great grandma would always gift me a savings bond for Christmas. Not gonna lie, my little ungrateful 7 year-old self was a little disappointed at the time, but I ended up using the money to buy a new car as a 22 year-old. Things like savings bonds, stock investments, or Bitcoin could be a fun gift that can be both a learning experience, but could end up being a bigger gift down the line. I personally have no idea how the stock market works, but my brother was purchased some shares for Christmas, and now he’s a pro at all things investing. Maybe not perfect for everybody, but a creative idea that not a lot of people thing about when it comes to Christmas shopping!
Hopefully these ideas help a bit – do you have anything to add to this list? Comment below!
