This sounds like a cheesy rom-com in the making – Tinder is now adding a new feature that literally just finds people dates for events – like weddings, anniversary parties, etc. If you don’t have any weddings in the near future, you can also offer yourself up as a date for someone else. Which is great in theory, but why on Earth would you want a first date to be at a WEDDING of all places?
First dates are horribly uncomfortable in the first place – not knowing what to wear, or how to act, or how much alcohol to consume beforehand. Now imagine all of that pre-date anxiety coupled with walking into a WEDDING all about love and commitment, and maybe having to meet your date’s family and friends. That would be a HUGE no from me. However, trends are showing that weddings are going to be the seeing the biggest surge in nearly half a century after all of the cancellations due to the pandemic. If needing a wedding date becomes a ‘thing’, this would definitely make finding a plus one much easier. I guess you’d also at least be in a public place with a lot of access to alcohol and plenty of people to talk to if your date ended up being a creep magnet.
All in all, Tinder’s just trying to hook you up and apparently prevent all the singles from hitting on the bridal party (cuz that’s definitely what was happening before everybody started bringing random dates!!)
Would you bring a Tinder date to a wedding? Or would you offer yourself up as a date to a random stranger? Let me know in the comments below!
XOXO, Alyssa
