THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn (KFGO KTRF) – Pennington County Court District Judge Tamara Yon has set bail at $10 million cash for Eric Reinbold. Reinbold, of Oklee, is charged in the murder of his wife. He evaded police for three weeks.
Reinbold is facing two counts of murder in the second-degree for the July death of his wife, Lissette, on July 9. She died of an apparent puncture wound to her neck and multiple sharp force injuries due to assault, according to court documents. Reinbold was apprehended at about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 4. in Red Lake County. Reinbold’s defense attorney, Bruce Rivers, requested a reduced bail. However, Judge Yon cited Reinbold’s previous attempts to flee law enforcement in this and other cases, as well as the significant concern of the community before he was apprehended.
At the hearing on Friday, attorneys also discussed a motion to obtain a handwriting sample from Reinbold.
Prosecutors filed the motion based on a note found near Lissette Reinbold’s body in their garage. According to the motion, the note, which was handwritten, contained the phrase, “Jesus forgive me of my sins.”
