FARGO (KFGO) – Investigators say two fires that took place on the same day were intentionally set.
One of the May 10 fires was at 307 7th Avenue North. The front steps of the two-story apartment building had been set on fire. Several people inside were initially not able to get out. Damage was estimated at $20,000.
The second blaze was at an abandoned house at 1421 2nd Avenue South. The blaze had reached the roof by the time the call came in. Fire crews did an extensive search after learning that squatters had been known to be in the building in the past. Damage was put at $16,000. Fire Marshal Ryan Erickson says there are no indications the fires were connected.
Another fire on May 11 was at a home at 6126 24th Avenue South. The fire started on a deck and was blamed on careless smoking. Damage was placed at $105,000.
