SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (MSUM Athletics) — The No. 1-ranked Augustana softball team swept Minnesota State University Moorhead by a pair of 9-0 scores in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Saturday.
MSUM fell to 7-26 overall and 5-16 in the NSIC while Augustana improved to 30-4 overall and 18-2 in the league.
The Dragons were unable to get a hit or baserunner in the opener against Augie starter Ashley Mickschl. Junior Anna Lang started and took the loss, giving up five earned runs in two innings. Freshman Reece Dahl gave up four runs, three earned, in two innings.
In the second game MSUM had six hits, Ied by a 2-for-3 effort from senior third baseman Emma Dummer. Junior left fielder Shay Weber, junior catcher Jordie McNeilly and freshman shortstop Miah Hartvigsen were each 1-for-2 while senior center fielder Elizabeth Johnson was 1-for-3.
Lang took the loss, giving up four earned runs in one inning. She walked three. Dahl gave up five earned runs over three innings.
MSUM plays at Wayne State (Neb.) for a doubleheader on Sunday.
