MINNEAPOLIS – The chair of the Republican Party of Minnesota has held off a challenge and retained her seat.
Jennifer Carnahan defeated state Senator Mark Koran during a virtual convention of state party activists. Carnahan won the victory on the first ballot, getting more than twice as many votes as the challenger. She pointed out that the party has been rebuilt over the last four years, expanding its base, eliminating its debt, improving finances, and bringing new energy to its cause.
Carnahan is the first person of color to lead either of the state’s two major parties.
