MINNEAPOLIS (KFGO) – The ex-Minneapolis police officer accused of kneeling on George Floyd just before he died doesn’t want the trial delayed.
A lawyer for Derek Chauvin requested that the trial begin as scheduled on March 8. An attorney for former officer Tou Thao asked the judge last week to push the case back until July of 2021.
Chauvin’s lawyer wrote in a recent filing there was no suggested reason for the delay.
Thao, and ex-officers Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng are charged with aiding and abetting Chauvin in the murder and manslaughter of Floyd.
