FERGUS FALLS, MN (KFGO) – Police say a man facing a murder charge committed suicide over the weekend in the Otter Tail County Jail.
41-year-old Derek Sweere of Perham was found in his cell late Friday night.
Sweere had been charged with second-degree murder in the March 30 death of his roommate in Perham.
Sweere was accused of stabbing the man in both eyes and shooting him several times. He was in jail awaiting further court action in the case. His next court appearance had been scheduled for Oct. 27.
Fergus Falls police investigated the death of Sweere.
