FARGO (KFGO-KVRR) – The Faith and Conviction Coalition have been leading the charge in showing the discomfort for Flock cameras in the Fargo-Moorhead area.
The Coalition group says the cameras have been tracking people in the area who are simply going about their everyday lives.
The group describes the presence of the Flock cameras as another form of police surveillance.
“We think it’s a violation of our 4th amendment, right to privacy, we know folks in our community feel less safe. We know we have folks who are immigrant refugee asylum seekers who are afraid to do their normal things like go to the grocery store, go to school.” Power says.
In West Fargo, there’s at least 50 flock cameras, and Moorhead has more than 5 cameras.
Member of the Faith and Coalition Clare Palmer mentions she’s concerned about the flock cameras because it leaves people vulnerable.
“I would like to see a future that doesn’t have government using artificial intelligence to make identifications.” Palmer says.
The group along with others have complained that the flock cameras not only violates their privacy, but also feel their lives are at stake.
