FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (KFGO-KBRF) – A Perham man has been charged for the sale of drugs and running from police.
Prosecutors say that Fergus Falls police pulled over Randy Lee, 39, late on October 10th for having an illegal level of window tint. When speaking with Lee, the officer noticed that his mood would shift drastically, and he was shaking abnormally.
The officer deployed a K9 unit that indicated there were controlled substances in the vehicle. Court documents say the officer began searching the vehicle and found a baggie containing a substance consistent with methamphetamine in the glove box, as well as other drug paraphernalia.
The officer approached Lee to arrest him, but the man began running away. Lee continued to run until another officer was able to stop him. Police say he struggled against the officers attempting to apprehend him, but he was eventually placed into a squad car.
Further investigation of the vehicle revealed $4,260 in cash and more evidence of drug possession. The substance in the glove box baggie field tested positive for meth and weighed 43 grams.
Officers spoke with Lee in custody the next day and when they indicated that he could not get some of his personal property back at that time, Lee made the comment that this was all over a bag of meth.
Lee made his first court appearance Tuesday morning and has been charged with 1st degree sale of drugs, 2nd degree possession of drugs, obstructing the legal process, and fleeing from a peace officer on foot.
