YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (KFGO) – President Donald Trump shares his thoughts on the Minnesota Senate race.
“You have to vote for Michele Tafoya who’s a very respected person,” Trump said. “It’s hard to win because they cheat on their elections, too. I thought I won Minnesota three times.”
The president made those comments at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio.
Trump lost in Minnesota by 1.52% in 2016, 7.12% in 2020 and 4.24% in 2024.
Secretary of State Steve Simon has said repeatedly that Minnesota’s elections have been free and fair.
“Michele Tafoya spent all year auditioning for Donald Trump’s endorsement, and she got it. No wonder he calls her ‘very respected’— she’s in lockstep with him on everything.” Flanagan campaign spokesperson Lexi Byler said. “She supported his war in Iran, she’s with him on his tariffs, his ICE and mass deportation agenda, and his attacks on abortion rights.”
Tafoya recently spoke about Mr. Trump in a campaign ad.
“A senator should work for Minnesota. Not party bosses, lobbyists or even the president,” Tafoya said. “When Trump is right, I’ll work with him. When he’s wrong, I’ll stand up for Minnesota.”
